Readers interested in the fields I track with my Cryptocurrency Portfolio and Investment journal can find the relevant fields and explanations below. With the goals of the journal in mind I have data entry fields and I have created also calculated fields.

There are four spreadsheet tabs in the spreadsheet : the logbook or tracker of all transaction data, the results page with the very useful possibility to filter by period, trader and account, the third tab is the portfolio overview and the last tab is the instructions tab. Let’s take a look.

You can select the portfolio currency you want to work in as your local currency for reporting in the dashboard.

Entry of cryptocurrency transactions

With coloured grey background the spreadsheet indicates the automatically calculated fields.

The transaction fields to enter are : date, Buy or sell selection, the cryptocurrency selection, the quantity of coins, the currency for the transaction, the unit price of the coin and transaction fee. Furthermore you need to enter the currency exchange conversion factor at the date of transaction.

The following fields are automatically calculated :

  • total cost of the transaction in the defined transaction currency
  • total cost of the transaction in your selected portfolio currency
  • the coin balance in portfolio
  • the current transaction currency conversion factors (for dashboard calculation)

Add a coin to the Coin list selector

Find the cryptocurrency “symbol” and “name” you want to add from the API_List of coins, and add the symbol and name to the list in the tab “coin list data”.

Next add the cryptocurrency Id below the list of crypto coin Ids (yellow column) in the tab API_inputs.

When you reopen the spreadsheet or you refresh the data, the new cryptocurrency data (price) will be imported automatically, for as far as the API Connector add-on for Sheets is installed to automatically pull in the cryptocurrency prices. The installation is easy and the instructions are delivered with the spreadsheet.
